Expert Talk 2026 | AirSense: Build Smart Sensors with ESP32 by IEEE WIE SB JSSUN
This event is a 2-Day Hands-on Technical Workshop on Air Quality Monitoring using the MQ Gas Sensor and ESP32 Microcontroller, organized under the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Student Affinity Group, JSS University, Noida.
The workshop is designed to provide 45–50 undergraduate students with practical exposure to embedded systems, IoT sensor integration, and real-world environmental monitoring applications.
Participants will build a functional air quality monitoring device from scratch, gaining skills in circuit assembly, ESP32 programming, sensor interfacing, and IoT-based data visualization. The session aims to bridge the gap between classroom theory and industry-relevant practice while fostering innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
The training program focuses on hands-on learning and real-time implementation, enabling participants to understand the complete development cycle of a smart environmental monitoring system.
In addition, participants will gain exposure to sensor calibration techniques, data accuracy handling, and basic troubleshooting methods used in real-world IoT systems. The workshop will also introduce cloud-based data monitoring and visualization concepts, helping students understand how environmental data can be tracked and analyzed remotely.
Students will work in teams to encourage collaborative learning and peer-to-peer knowledge sharing, while also improving their technical communication and project presentation skills. The session will emphasize practical problem-solving approaches and design thinking, preparing participants for industry-level challenges.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have developed a working prototype, along with a clear understanding of how embedded systems and IoT technologies can be applied to solve real-world environmental issues.
