Join the UJ IEEE Student Branch, alongside the PES and IES chapters, for our flagship IEEE PES Day seminar! Funded by the IEEE SPAx (Student Professional Awareness Experience) program, this event is dedicated to professional development, career readiness, and leadership in the sustainable energy sector.

Under this year's PES Day motto—"Energizing today and innovating tomorrow"—this seminar bridges the gap between academic engineering theory and the professional realities of the South African power sector.

What to Expect:

  • Industry Insights: Hear from CIGRE Southern Africa about the current job market, the rise of Independent Power Producers (IPPs), and the soft skills required to succeed in large-scale grid projects.

  • Global Networking: A special address by Dr. Gbenga Apata (IEEE SA PES Advisor) on leveraging the global PES network, international mentorship, and the transition to IEEE Young Professionals (YP).

  • Interactive Leadership Challenge: Participate in the "Jargon-Free Town Hall" challenge to practice stakeholder communication and client relations.
