IEEE PES Day 2026 Celebration: Technical Tutorial on Powering Tomorrow - Renewable Energy, Grid Challenges and Tech Revolution
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, in association with the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) Student Branch at Vardhaman College of Engineering, organized a Technical Tutorial as part of IEEE PES Day 2026 celebrations.
The session, titled “Powering Tomorrow: Renewable Energy, Grid Challenges and Tech Revolution”, was delivered by Mr. Sainath Bandhakavi, Senior Manager - Solutions Architecture at Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Vice Chair of IEEE PES Hyderabad Section.
The tutorial focused on emerging trends in renewable energy integration, challenges in modern power grids, and the role of advanced technologies such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence in building resilient and intelligent energy systems. The session provided valuable industry insights and practical perspectives to participants.
The event witnessed active participation from undergraduate and postgraduate students, IEEE members, and faculty, contributing to knowledge enhancement and professional development. This initiative reflects IEEE PES’s commitment to promoting sustainable energy solutions, innovation, and industry-academia collaboration.

The session focuses on emerging trends in renewable energy integration, challenges in modern power grids, and the role of advanced technologies such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence in building resilient and intelligent energy systems.
Biography:
Mr. Sainath Bandhakavi is a Senior Manager - Solutions Architecture at Amazon Web Services (AWS) India Private Limited. He leads solutions architecture across Power & Utilities, EdTech, and Healthcare sectors, driving digital transformation through cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
He is a Senior Member of IEEE and serves as Vice Chair of the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) Hyderabad Section. He holds patents in the power domain and has published several research papers in reputed industry journals. He has delivered talks at major conferences on smart metering, smart grids, EV charging, renewable energy, data-driven asset management, and cloud security.
Prior to AWS, he worked at IBM India Private Limited as a Senior Managing Consultant for over 13 years, contributing to global smart grid and smart metering projects. Earlier, he worked with Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (NDPL), focusing on utility operations such as metering, billing, and network expansion.
He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Andhra University and has over 25 years of experience in technology consulting and solution delivery.
