Educational Trip to Elemko in Thiva
The IEEE Industry Applications Society Student Branch Chapter of the Technical University of Crete organizes a three-day educational visit to Elemko S.A., one of Greece's leading manufacturers of electrical protection and installation systems, located in Thiva, Boeotia.
The trip runs from 15 to 18 May 2025, departing from and returning to Souda Port, Crete. It is for undergraduate and postgraduate (PhD) students of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at TUC.
The program includes a guided tour of the Elemko production and R&D facilities, covering the company's product lines in surge protective devices, lightning protection systems, earthing and bonding equipment, and cable management infrastructure. The visit also features a dedicated technical seminar on lightning protection principles, system design, and standards — providing students with direct exposure to industrial practices aligned with IEC 62305 and related normative frameworks.
This event bridges academic knowledge and industrial application, offering participants firsthand insight into the engineering, manufacturing, and standardization processes behind critical electrical protection systems.
