A webinar on Strategic Approach to Drafting and Publishing Patent Applications
IEEE Vizag Bay Section
Prof. S. Lakshmi Narayana, Chair, IEEE Vizag Bay Section explained the essential forms required for patent filing in India in a structured manner, highlighting both mandatory and optional requirements governed by the Indian Patent Office. He emphasized that core forms such as Form 1 (Application for Patent), Form 2 (Provisional/Complete Specification), Form 3 (Statement and Undertaking), Form 5 (Declaration of Inventorship), and Form 18 (Request for Examination) are critical to initiate and process a patent application. Additionally, he discussed optional but strategically important forms like Form 9 for early publication, Form 18A for expedited examination, Form 26 for patent agent authorization, and Form 28 for startups and small entities, noting how their proper use can significantly speed up the patent process and provide benefits to applicants.
