 Explores Iraq's power grid challenges, stability issues, and smart grid solutions using FACTS devices for resilience.

Biography:

Dr. Hatim Ghadhban Abood, SMIEEE,  is an Associate Professor of Electrical Power Engineering at the University of Kerbala, Iraq. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Western Australia (2018). His research focuses on power system protection, IEC 61850 digital substations, FACTS, PV energy, and smart grids. He is an IEEE Senior Member and Vice Chair of the IEEE Iraq Section, and serves as a journal editor and reviewer for international publications.

Wael R. Abdulmajeed of University of Baghdad

Engineering the Future: Smart Cities & Sustainable Power

Discusses ICT integration in smart cities, sustainable energy, and resilient urban systems for Iraq's future.

Biography:

Dr. Wael Abdulmajeed, SMIEEE, is a mechatronics engineering expert and engineering leader at the University of Baghdad. He serves as IEEE Iraq Section Treasurer, Smart Cities Ambassador, and Chair of the IEEE Iraq Entrepreneurship Group, with 30+ years of experience in smart systems, energy,  engineering education & leadership.
