Protective Relaying - The Past, Present, and Future

We will briefly review the history of electrical protection, going from thin wires, to fuses, to circuit breakers and then bifurcating into the NEC and MV/HV IEEE standards. Then we will delve into the present applications, which include the blend of current technologies and existing protection infrastructure. Finally, we will look into the developing technologies and applications that are on the horizon.

Biography:

BSEE from NJIT with over 20 years of industry experience. I have extensive experience with power systems, electrical safety, fault current analysis, protection and control, MV and HV systems, NEC and the NYC Electrical Code. I served on the NYC Electrical Advisory Board (NYC plan review) and the Electrical Code Adoption Committee for the NYC 2024 Electrical Code. Currently I am a co-owner of Bluefin Esi, the local representative of GE Multilin. I have two kids, one in high school and one in college. I love cooking and playing basketball.
