Welcome to the inaugural kick-off meeting of the newly established IEEE Iraq Section Young Professionals (YP) Affinity Group!
This virtual session aims to introduce the vision, objectives, and activities of IEEE Young Professionals in Iraq, and to engage early-career engineers and senior students who are interested in professional growth, leadership, and community impact.
During this meeting, participants will:
- Learn about the IEEE Young Professionals program and its benefits within IEEE Region 8
- Explore volunteering and leadership opportunities within the Iraq Section YP Affinity Group

IEEE Iraq Young Professionals 2026 Kick‑Off Meeting
Welcome to the 2026 kick‑off meeting of the IEEE Iraq Section Young Professionals (YP) Affinity Group. This virtual session aims to introduce the vision, objectives, and planned activities of IEEE Young Professionals in Iraq, and to engage early‑career engineers and senior students interested in professional growth, leadership, and community impact.
During this meeting, participants will: learn about the IEEE Young Professionals program and its benefits within IEEE Region 8, explore volunteering and leadership opportunities within the Iraq Section YP team, and network with like‑minded engineers from different disciplines and cities across Iraq. We will also present our 2026 activity roadmap and explain how members can contribute to upcoming initiatives and collaborations.
Biography:
Saif Aldeen Saad Obayes Al‑Kadhim is the Chair of the IEEE Young Professionals Affinity Group – Iraq Section, where he leads a diverse team of volunteers to design and deliver strategic initiatives that empower early‑career engineers through networking, mentoring, skills development, and impactful technical activities across the country. He is an IEEE Senior Member with a strong record of service in IEEE at the Section, Regional, and global levels, contributing to membership development, student‑to‑YP transition, and cross‑Society collaboration.
In addition to his YP leadership role, Saif Aldeen serves as Vice Chair of the IEEE P2418.11 Standards Working Group on distributed ledger technologies for electronic voting systems, helping to shape emerging international standards that promote trust, transparency, and security in digital governance applications. He has been actively involved in several IEEE Societies and Councils, including the Power & Energy Society (PES), Industrial Electronics Society (IES), Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), and Sensors Council, supporting technical events, outreach programs, and collaborative projects.
Over the years, he has received multiple recognitions for his outstanding volunteering and leadership, such as Best Ambassador for IEEE PES Day and key roles in major IEEE campaigns and regional initiatives, reflecting his commitment to advancing the mission and values of IEEE in Iraq, Region 8, and globally. Alongside his volunteer leadership, he continues to engage with the broader IEEE Young Professionals network worldwide, sharing best practices and promoting Iraq as an active hub of innovation, talent, and professional growth for young engineers.
