Mr. Jared Nganyi – former manager of the Internet of Things 
& Wireless Networks Unit at @iLabAfrica Research and 
Innovation Centre, Strathmore University. Currently an 
engineering consultant in robotics, industrial and building 
automation control systems and advancing climate 
mitigation strategies using AI-based predictive systems. 
Jared is a researcher and industrial automation engineer in the emerging 
technologies fields, with a focus on developing advanced technology skills and 
capacity to cross-cutting technology domains, particularly in Energy efficiency, Smart 
grids, Smart Buildings, GreenTech, HealthTech, BioTech, Food/AgriTech, Electric 
Mobility, Circular Economy and Air Quality. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in 
electrical and electronics engineering from Moi University and a Masters in 
Embedded and Mobile Systems from the Nelson Mandela African Institution of 
Science and Technology (NM-AIST) focusing in emerging technologies, particularly 
embedded systems, AI, and robotics, and is currently venturing into AI-based electro
climate change mitigation and resilience strategies aligning to underlying national 
and international policy directives through behavioural change in society, industry, 
and academia. He explores the interplay between policy implementation aspects and 
outcomes and how this impacts society. Specific research interests include data 
management, UX/UI, robotics, energy management, IoT, and Industrial IoT.
