Judges/Volunteers for Wappingers CSD students attempting a Guinness World Record

Some of the Wappingers CSD students in Grades 1-7 are attempting a Guinness world record for the longest mental arithmetic problem, and we need your help! In order to comply with the Guinness World Record requirements, we need to have non-staff members fill a variety of roles. We will need judges, timers, and witnesses.

A description of each of the roles is included below for your review. In addition, Dr. Irvin Miller, of Math & Physics Exploration, will offer a briefing prior to the event on your specific duties.

The event will take place:

  • Date: Saturday, June 6th, 2026
  • Time: 8:30 AM Briefing, 9:00AM - 1:00PM event
  • Location: Wappingers Junior High School - Gymnasium, 30 Major Macdonald Way, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590

Roles and Descriptions:

  • Long-Multiplication Judges (Person with a Mathematics Background): You will need to verify the student’s work using a rubric that will be provided. Additional information will be provided to you during the debriefing session.
  • Timers: You will be using a stop clock (smart phone or stop watch) to record the times for the 10x10, 20x20, 40x40, 80x80 and 96x96 records. Additional information will be provided to you during the debriefing session.
  • Witnesses: You will be watching the contestants, timers, and videographers for accuracy and authenticity.
