Senior Member Elevation
Objective: This event is to support the upgrade of Houston IEEE Members to Senior Membership level. The event will be led by Lawrence Larson who holds the position of Sr. Membership Chairman for both the Central Texas Section and Region 5.
At this meeting, I have several objectives around the development of Senior Members and a Senior Member Program for your Section.
For the Section - Benefits of elevating your members will be described and established Senior Members will be encouraaged to at least serve as references and possibly lead the mission locally.
For Members - Larry will describe the successful Sr. Membership application, work with attendees to develop their own application following this example. When the application is electronically submitted local leadership will be assisting to provide appropriate technical Reference Writers.
For this event, there is no need to work on inputting the application details, but you may. You can find your Sr. Member Application website at https://www.ieee.org/membership/senior/ . I intend to send the Sr. Member Resume Template and the CTS Sr. Member Application Guidance document to the registrants for your information before the event; these documents will help us with your application as they embody the advice I give during the presentation. Again – no need to start early, but my points may make more sense if you are acquainted with the web-form.

Key achievements during that period were the manufacturing improvement of mega-volt and low energy ion implanters, development of vertical furnace technologies and early materials development for high-k and metal gate technologies.
Of connected interest to the presentation: Dr. Larson currently serves as the Region 5 and CTS Representative to the MGA Admissions & Advancement Committee, Past-Chair of the Central Texas Section of the IEEE, leads the CTS Student Activities effort, is the faculty advisor for the Texas State University Student Branch and HKN Chapter and is a Regional VP and Newsletter Editor for the Electron Devices Society.
