Dr. Padma Rekha Ajithkumar is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chennai. She obtained her B.E. degree in 2000, M.E. degree in 2003, and Ph.D. in 2012. Her academic and research expertise lies in pavement analysis and design, rheology of bituminous materials, constitutive modeling, and geopolymer concrete. She has served in various academic positions at Vellore Institute of Technology, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, and currently at NITTTR Chennai.

Biography:

Dr. M. Anil Kumar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Rural and 
Entrepreneurship Development at NITTTR, Chennai, with over 14 years of multidisciplinary 
experience spanning academia, research, and industrial environmental consulting. Prior to 
joining NITTTR, he served as a Senior Scientist at CSIR–Central Salt & Marine Chemicals 
Research Institute (CSMCRI), Bhavnagar, and as an Honorary Assistant Professor at the 
Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), Ghaziabad (2015–2023). He began 
his academic career as an Assistant Professor in Biotechnology at Madha Engineering 
College, Chennai. He holds a B.Tech. in Biotechnology, M.Tech. in Environmental Science 
& Technology, and a Ph.D. in Technology from Anna University, Chennai. 
An environmental engineer by training, Dr. Anil Kumar has extensive expertise across 
sectors such as LNG terminals, ports, ship-breaking yards, and industrial clusters. His work 
strongly aligns with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, particularly 
in environmental compliance, sustainable resource management, and responsible 
industrial practices. As a NABET-recognized (an apex body under Quality Council of India) 
EIA Coordinator for Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETPs) and Functional Area 
Expert in water pollution, waste management, and hazard assessment, he has contributed 
to impact assessment, risk mitigation, and environmental management planning for over 
25 sponsored and consultancy projects. 
His research and professional contributions emphasize ESG-driven outcomes through areas 
such as marine ecosystem conservation, pollution control, waste valorization, and 
bioremediation. He combines environmental stewardship with social impact through 
initiatives like the Jigyasa Programme (2016–2023), contributing to human resource 
development and science outreach. At NITTTR Chennai, he advances sustainable and 
inclusive development through Bio-entrepreneurship, Blue Economy, Curriculum audit, 
Environmental Management, Bioremediation, Instructional design, Nanomaterials, Biomass 
Valorization, Method Development & Process Design. He has been actively involved in 
designing and delivering national and international training programmes, including ITEC 
initiatives, and has collaborated with premier institutions such as IITs, NITs, IIITs, and 
defense organizations. 
A prolific researcher, authored 70+ publications in SCI/Scopus listed journals and 
contributed 15 book chapters with international publishers. His research spans 
environmental management, bioremediation, nanotechnology, biomass valorization, 
analytical method development, and sustainable process design. His research work has

gained widespread attention with citations grossing over 2000 and an h-index of 24. He 
has served as Guest Editor to the Journal of Hazardous Materials Advances, Elsevier 
during the year 2024. Through his teaching, research, and consultancy, he continues to

long-term sustainability and responsible governance. 
As an able administrator, he has complemented in building institute’s infrastructure 
development and resource enhancement which includes advanced facilities such as a 3D 
LiDAR terrestrial scanner and high-performance computing systems. His active 
memberships in professional bodies, invited lectures, and collaborations with industry and 
government organizations reflect his commitment to environmental stewardship, rural 
development, and technological innovation. Through his research, teaching, and outreach, 
Dr. M. Anil Kumar is contributing to national capacity building, sustainable development, 
and the creation of resilient rural and industrial ecosystems in India.
