The IEEE International Conference on Image Processing Applications and Systems (IPAS 2027) will take place in Castellón, Spain, from 6–8 April 2027. The International Conference on Image Processing Applications and Systems brings together researchers, innovators, academics, and practitioners from around the world to exchange scientific results and discuss key challenges in image‑processing theory and tools. The conference also aims to strengthen collaboration between the research community and industry, fostering dialogue on technological roadmaps and the transfer and valorization of research outcomes.

Image processing today encompasses an increasingly broad range of applications. It enables us to observe the world with new perspectives, uncover deeper structures, and extract richer information. These capabilities support advanced analysis, expert systems, decision‑making processes, artificial intelligence, and approaches that aim to extend or complement human perception.

The conference will place particular emphasis on low‑level human visual processing, as well as on fundamental theories and methods in image and video processing. As practical applications become more complex and increasingly real‑time, numerous challenges arise. Signal, image, and video analysis and interpretation continue to be active research areas, with applications in human activity recognition, smart‑city technologies, image retrieval, tracking, and related fields.

Image‑processing techniques for virtual and augmented reality have transformed medical surgery, advertising, and tourism, allowing users to perceive information beyond natural sight. Medical imaging relies on multiple acquisition modalities, each capturing specific interactions between biological tissues and electromagnetic radiation. Ultrasound, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging, and multimodal imaging are among the topics of particular interest. Computer‑aided detection and diagnosis, as well as the integration of deep learning into modern medical systems, remain open research challenges—especially in scenarios where only limited annotated data are available for certain pathologies, raising the question of how to enable deep networks to learn effectively from small datasets.

Researchers are invited to submit original contributions presenting theoretical advances, innovative methodologies, practical applications, and industrial experiences in image processing and related fields.
