Professor Tingting Yuan of IMC University of Applied Sciences, Krems, Austria

Recent advances in large language models (LLMs) are transforming AI systems from task-specific models into intelligent agents capable of perception, communication, and collaboration. In this talk, I will present my research journey from efficient video analytics and emergent communication in multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) to LLM-enabled multimodal understanding and agent collaboration. Through these representative studies, I will illustrate how LLMs have reshaped AI research and applications over the past five years, and discuss emerging opportunities and future directions for collaborative and multimodal AI systems.

Biography:

Dr. Tingting Yuan (IEEE Senior Member, Alexander von Humboldt Fellow) is a Professor at IMC University of Applied Sciences, Krems, Austria. Prior to joining IMC Krems, she held academic positions at the University of Göttingen, Germany, including W1 Professor (Assistant Professor), W2 Substitute Professor, and Postdoctoral Researcher. She was also a Postdoctoral Researcher at INRIA, France. She received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China. Her research interests span artificial intelligence (AI), computer networks, edge-cloud computing, multi-agent systems, and intelligent computing. Her work has been published in leading journals and conferences, including IEEE INFOCOM, AAAI, AAMAS, IJCAI, IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, and IEEE Network. She actively contributes to the research community through conference organization, program committee service, journal reviewing, and research grant evaluation.
