The Enhancing Administrative Efficiency through Artificial Intelligence workshop was organized by the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, University of Jaffna Student Branch Chapter, in collaboration with the Sandilipay Divisional Secretariat. Held on 28 June 2026 at the University of Jaffna, this capacity-building session equipped government officers with practical AI tools and knowledge to streamline workflows, improve decision-making, and promote smart governance.

Enhancing Administrative Efficiency through Artificial Intelligence
The capacity-building workshop was the 4th specialized training session under the “Empowering Governance with Intelligence” initiative. It was tailored for government officers of the Sandilipay Divisional Secretariat, focusing on equipping them with practical knowledge of artificial intelligence to streamline administrative workflows, enhance decision-making, and improve service delivery.
Biography:
Prof. Amirthalingam Ramanan is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Jaffna. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Southampton, UK (2010), following his B.Sc. (Hons) in Computer Science with First Class from the University of Jaffna (2002). His academic expertise lies in artificial intelligence, computer vision, and deep learning, with research contributions in areas such as medical image analysis, object tracking, and AI applications in agriculture and education.
Prof. Ramanan has supervised numerous Ph.D., MPhil, and MSc students, guiding advanced research in AI and dataโdriven technologies. He has published extensively in international journals and conferences, strengthening Sri Lanka’s presence in global AI research. As a Senior Member of IEEE, he actively supports student mentorship, STEM outreach, and curriculum development, playing a vital role in advancing AI education and research in the region.
