Digital DNA: Why the Future of AI Security Starts in the Silicon
We often talk about protecting our data and software, but what about the physical hardware that makes Artificial Intelligence possible?
In this engaging session, Aakriti Barat, a doctoral researcher at Ohio University, explores the often-overlooked world of hardware security. Drawing from her research on Physical Unclonable Functions (PUFs), she explains how every AI chip is created with a unique "silicon fingerprint" formed by natural variations during the manufacturing process.
Discover how these unique fingerprints can serve as a Digital DNA for electronic devices—enabling authentication, detecting tampering, and strengthening trust in AI systems. The session will highlight why securing hardware is becoming a critical foundation for trustworthy AI and why the future of AI security begins at the silicon level.
