Dr. Abhishek Phadke of Christopher Newport University
State of Research at The ADAPT Lab (Advanced Development in Adaptive and Persistent Technologies)
A detailed summary of grant-funded research conducted by the ADAPT lab at Christopher Newport University and its partner institutions.
Biography:
Abhishek Phadke is an assistant professor in the School of Engineering and Computing at Christopher Newport University. He earned his PhD from Texas A&M University in Geospatial and Computer Science, with a focus on UAV Guidance, Navigation, and Control. Abhishek has 4 years of experience teaching undergraduate and graduate-level engineering, computer science, and cybersecurity courses. At CNU, Abhishek directs the ADAPT lab [https://sites.google.com/view/abhishek-phadke/adapt-lab?authuser=0] (Advanced Development in Adaptive and Persistent Technologies). The lab has been awarded several external grants ($350,000) to focus on topics addressing resilience issues in Cyber-Physical Systems. Current research topics include advanced network protocols, LiDAR sensor security, and the heterogeneous coordination of mobile robots.
Marjorie Cenese of Old Dominion University
IEEE Eta Kappa Nu (IEEE HKN) : An Overview
A detailed overview of IEEE-HKN and its operations will be presented.
Biography:
Marjorie Cenese is a Master’s student in Electrical Engineering at Old Dominion University. In May 2025, she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Engineering Management. She served as Founder and Chair of ODU’s IEEE Student Branch for over 2 years, where she secured over $8,000 in funding, led technical projects with NASA, and helped the branch earn the IEEE Region 3 Exemplary Student Branch Award. Her academic and leadership contributions have been recognized with the J. Harold Lampe Award for Overall Excellence in Engineering and as a 2025 Tau Beta Pi Laureate.
