PARIKALP 2026 was successfully organized by the IEEE KSSEM Student Branch in association with the IEEE CEDA Bangalore Chapter and the Rotaract Club of KSSEM under the IEEE Region 10 ACEI Entrepreneurship Ambassador Program 2026 at K. S. School of Engineering and Management. The competition was designed to foster innovation, entrepreneurial thinking, and problem-solving skills by providing students with a platform to transform innovative ideas into impactful and sustainable solutions.

The competition was conducted across four domains:

• Technology and Digital Innovation

• Sustainability and Environment

• Healthcare and Well-being

• Smart Infrastructure and Mobility

Each participating team comprised two to four members, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration, teamwork, and the exchange of diverse perspectives while developing innovative solutions.

The event witnessed an overwhelming response, attracting 61 teams comprising 198 participants from engineering institutions across Karnataka. Students represented institutions from Ballari, Mangaluru, Tumakuru, Bengaluru, and several other districts, making PARIKALP 2026 a truly state-level innovation competition. The diverse participation enabled students from different institutions and backgrounds to collaborate, exchange ideas, and present innovative solutions to real-world challenges.

The event commenced with the Inaugural Ceremony, during which Dr. Renuka V. Thali, IEEE KSSEM Student Branch Counsellor, delivered the welcome address. The dignitaries formally inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. This was followed by the address of the Principal of K. S. School of Engineering and Management, who encouraged students to embrace innovation, research, and entrepreneurship as essential drivers of future technological advancement.

Subsequently, Mr. Mahesh N, Chair of the IEEE KSSEM Student Branch and IEEE Region 10 ACEI Entrepreneurship Ambassador 2026, addressed the gathering. He introduced the vision behind PARIKALP 2026, explained the objectives of the IEEE Region 10 ACEI Entrepreneurship Ambassador Program 2026, and highlighted the Student Branch's commitment to promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and impactful student-led initiatives.

Following the inauguration, participants proceeded to their respective presentation halls for the Preliminary Evaluation Round. Each domain was assessed by a dedicated panel of internal jury members, who evaluated the submissions based on innovation, originality, technical feasibility, societal impact, sustainability, scalability, business potential, and presentation quality.

The domain-wise participation was as follows:

• Technology and Digital Innovation: 15 teams

• Sustainability and Environment: 22 teams

• Healthcare and Well-being: 15 teams

• Smart Infrastructure and Mobility: 9 teams

After a comprehensive evaluation, the Top 10 teams, based on the highest overall scores across all domains, advanced to the Grand Finale.

Following the completion of the preliminary presentations, participants, faculty members, judges, and organizers assembled for lunch. The Grand Finale commenced in the afternoon, where the shortlisted teams presented their innovative ideas before an eminent panel of judges comprising:

• Mr. Sasindran Madhav Prabhu – IEEE Senior Member, Fellow of IETE, and Project Management Professional

• Mr. Sajal Mittal – Chair, IEEE CEDA Bangalore Chapter (2026), Associate Director – SSIR, and IEEE Senior Member

• Mr. Amogh Simha – Project Manager, HP; Gold Medalist, IIM Udaipur; and Rotaractor

During the final round, each team delivered a comprehensive presentation explaining the problem statement, proposed solution, innovation, technical feasibility, implementation strategy, scalability, and societal impact of their idea. The jury evaluated each presentation based on innovation, technical implementation, business viability, market relevance, presentation effectiveness, and the potential for creating meaningful societal impact. The interactive evaluation also provided participants with valuable suggestions and expert feedback to further refine their ideas and entrepreneurial approach.

Based on the final evaluation, the Top Five teams were declared winners of PARIKALP 2026. The competition featured a total prize pool of ₹25,000, and the winning teams were recognized during the Valedictory Ceremony, where they received Certificates of Recognition along with their respective cash prizes. In addition, the overall winning team became eligible for nomination to the IEEE Region 10 Asia-Pacific Level Competition, providing an opportunity to represent their innovation on an international platform.

During the Valedictory Ceremony, the judges and sponsors were felicitated with mementos in recognition of their valuable contributions and unwavering support toward the successful conduct of the competition. The organizing committee, functional leads, and volunteers were also presented with certificates in appreciation of their dedication and contributions to the successful execution of the event. The ceremony concluded with the Vote of Thanks, marking the successful completion of PARIKALP 2026.

PARIKALP 2026 provided participants with an excellent platform to present innovative ideas, receive constructive feedback from experienced professionals, and strengthen their entrepreneurial mindset. Beyond the competition, the event fostered networking, interdisciplinary collaboration, critical thinking, leadership, communication, and innovation among students from diverse engineering institutions across Karnataka.

The competition successfully achieved its objective of inspiring students to identify real-world problems, develop sustainable and technology-driven solutions, and transform innovative ideas into impactful ventures. Through structured evaluation, expert mentorship, and interaction with industry professionals, participants gained valuable exposure to innovation management, startup ecosystems, design thinking, and entrepreneurship.

As an initiative under the IEEE Region 10 ACEI Entrepreneurship Ambassador Program 2026, PARIKALP 2026 reinforced the IEEE KSSEM Student Branch's commitment to promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, technical excellence, and student leadership. The event served as a significant milestone in fostering a vibrant ecosystem where aspiring innovators could collaborate, compete, and prepare themselves to become future entrepreneurs and technology leaders while addressing real societal challenges through engineering and innovation.
