The IEEE Electron Devices Society (EDS) maintains a deeply international profile, fostering technological advancement and professional development across borders. In alignment with this global vision, Dr. Alejandra Castro Carranza (Prof. at ENES Morelia UNAM and Chair of the IEEE EDS Professional Chapter Centro Occidente Section) spearheads strategic training initiatives aimed at internationalization.
By introducing advanced methodologies to regional educators, this course bridges the gap between local talent and global opportunities, cultivating regional capacity and opening students' minds to a broader technological and cultural world in an engaging, highly motivated, and fun atmosphere!
Requirements for the Accomplishment Certificate
To receive an official certificate of accomplishment endorsed by the IEEE EDS Centro Occidente Chapter, participants must fully satisfy the following performance-based requirements:

Attendance: Minimum attendance at 5 out of the 6 live sessions.

Bridge Tasks and Collaborative Practice: Successful completion of all the Activities.

Practical Delivery: Successful execution of the microteaching segment during Session 6.

Action Plan: Submission of a written, backward-designed action plan detailing how they will deploy the Total Language Immersion technique in their future classrooms.

Biography:
Alejandra Castro-Carranza received her B.Sc. in Electronics Engineering, Power Electronics, and a Technical Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from the Morelia Institute of Technology, Mexico; and pursued her Master’s and Ph.D. degrees at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili in Tarragona, Spain, specializing in the design, fabrication, characterization, and compact modeling of organic electronic devices, particularly organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs).
In 2013, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Tarragona, focusing on the compact modeling of oxide TFTs in collaboration with simulation companies in the UK, such as SILVACO; and previously in France, such as Dolphin Integration and the MINATEC Microtechnology Center, IMEP-LAHC (now CROMA), Grenoble INP.
At the end of 2013, she was selected by the European Commission as a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Research Fellow within the framework of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions program, through which she worked in the Semiconductor Optics group at the University of Bremen, Germany. She continued working as an academic at the University of Bremen until January 2019.
In February 2019, Dr. Carranza joined the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) Campus Morelia as a Full-Time Associate Professor, where she is currently the founder and head of the International Laboratory for Environmental Electronic Devices (LAIDEA UNAM) at ENES Morelia. She is also a pioneer of the Bremen-Mexican Network for Sustainable Technology for Environmental Applications, which she leads in Mexico as part of her appointment as Research Ambassador of the University of Bremen for Mexico since 2015.
Since September 2022, she has served as Chair of the Electron Device Society (EDS) Professional Chapter for the Centro Occidente Section, IEEE. Additionally, in January 2024, she was appointed Vice Chair of the EDS Subcommittee for Regions and Chapters for R9 Latin America, responsible for Mexico; and since April 2025, Member of the IEEE EDS Flexible Electronics and Displays Committee

Course Overview
This teacher training program prepares educators to effectively implement Total Language Immersion strategies. Participants will explore active, flipped, and gamified learning methodologies to maintain a dynamic, 100% target-language environment.
