The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, in association with the IEEE KSSEM Student Branch, successfully inaugurated the IEEE Council on Electronic Design Automation (CEDA) Student Chapter on 28 March 2026 at K.S. School of Engineering and Management (KSSEM). The event marked a significant milestone for the institution by establishing a dedicated IEEE technical chapter focused on Electronic Design Automation (EDA), VLSI Design, Semiconductor Technologies, Embedded Systems, and emerging electronic innovations.

The ceremony was graced by Mr. Sajal Mittal, Chair of IEEE CEDA Bangalore Chapter 2026 and Associate Director at Samsung Semiconductors, as the Chief Guest. Special Guests included Mr. Aloke Das, Founder Chair of IEEE CEDA Bangalore Chapter; Mr. Girish Aramanekoppa Subbarao, Vice Chair of IEEE CEDA Bangalore Chapter and Embedded Systems Consultant at SemiconAdept; Dr. Venugopal N, Professor at PES University; and Mr. Tanuj Agarwal, Senior RTL Design Engineer at Samsung Semiconductors. Their addresses provided students with valuable insights into semiconductor technologies, VLSI design, Electronic Design Automation, industry trends, and career opportunities.

The program commenced with a welcome by Mr. Mahesh N, Chair of the IEEE KSSEM Student Branch, followed by the welcome address from Dr. Renuka V. Tali, IEEE KSSEM Student Branch Counsellor. The traditional lamp-lighting ceremony marked the formal inauguration of the event.

During his keynote address, Mr. Sajal Mittal emphasized the growing importance of semiconductor technologies and encouraged students to actively participate in IEEE activities and continuously develop industry-relevant skills. Mr. Aloke Das highlighted the role of open-source EDA tools in VLSI learning and emphasized IEEE CEDA's initiatives to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Prof. Suresh Ramaswamy Reddy, Principal of KSSEM, and Dr. K. Senthil Babu, Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, congratulated the organizers and encouraged students to utilize IEEE as a platform for technical growth, leadership, and research.

A major highlight of the event was the official unveiling of the IEEE CEDA Student Chapter logo, symbolizing the formal launch of the chapter. The Executive Committee members of the IEEE CEDA Student Chapter 2026 also received their appointment letters from the Chief Guest. Distinguished guests were felicitated with handmade hampers prepared by IEEE student members, and students received IEEE CEDA badges as a token of encouragement.

The inauguration successfully created awareness about Electronic Design Automation, semiconductor technologies, and IEEE professional activities. It inspired students to pursue innovation, research, and technical excellence while strengthening collaboration between academia, industry, and the global IEEE community.
