Event Description

Small Steps Chess: Building Young Minds Through Chess is an interactive educational event designed to introduce children to the world of chess in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment. Participants will learn the fundamentals of the game, including the chessboard, the pieces, their movements, and the basic rules through hands-on activities and guided practice.

Beyond learning how to play chess, the event aims to nurture essential cognitive and personal skills such as critical thinking, logical reasoning, concentration, problem-solving, creativity, patience, and strategic decision-making. By encouraging children to think ahead, analyze different possibilities, and make thoughtful decisions, the workshop helps build a strong foundation for lifelong learning and intellectual growth.

Whether participants are complete beginners or have limited experience, the event provides an enjoyable opportunity to discover chess while developing confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Activity Description

The workshop begins with an introduction to the chessboard, the purpose of each piece, and how every piece moves. Through interactive demonstrations, mini-games, and guided exercises, children gradually practice applying the rules of chess in a simple and enjoyable way.

Participants will then engage in friendly practice matches where they can apply what they have learned under the guidance of facilitators. Throughout the session, instructors will encourage strategic thinking by presenting fun challenges that require planning, observation, and problem-solving. The activity concludes with a mini chess challenge, allowing participants to showcase their new skills while celebrating learning, teamwork, and fair play in a positive and motivating atmosphere.
