The IEEE CEDA Bangalore Chapter held its first offline ExeCom meeting of the year, bringing members together in person for an extended strategy and planning session. The meeting covered chapter progress, governance processes, and a series of new event proposals for the second half of 2026.

Key highlights included:

  • Progress review: Updates on student branch growth (22 of a target 25) and chapter membership (over 2,200 student members, alongside Fellow and Affiliate members), with plans to strengthen membership drives at the student-branch level.
  • Chapter governance: Discussion on the process for opening new student branches, the responsibilities expected of ExeCom members beyond regular IEEE membership, and administrative matters including an MoU with VIT Vellore.
  • Events tracking: Plans to adopt more structured tools (including Jira) for tracking chapter events and providing training to student volunteers.
  • New event proposals discussed:
    • A conference on AI/ML for EDA and Hardware, planned for July.
    • A Faculty Development Program (FDP) planned for September, covering themes such as Ethics in Engineering, AI/ML for EDA and Hardware Acceleration, and Industrial Perspectives on Circuit Design.
    • A five-day offline workshop themed "Adopt AI, Utilise AI", targeting a wider, all-region audience with industry sponsorship support.
    • A phased industry-academia training initiative with PES University spanning Industry 4.0, Robotics, PLCs, and eMobility, including a train-the-trainer and placement-assistance component.
    • A non-technical team-building workshop concept bringing together professionals across career stages to collaboratively solve real-world problems.

Outcome: The ExeCom aligned on several new event concepts for the second half of 2026, with members taking ownership of specific proposals to develop further with defined budgets, timelines, and sponsorship plans in the coming weeks.
