Please join us for the IEEE Alaska July Section meeting. This month’s program features a presentation on the STAK Energy Project Aaka, a multi-gigawatt, off-grid natural gas fired power plant on Alaska's North Slope by Ginger Kane, Project Director.

We will meet in person on the UAA campus.  Park in the UAA Engineering & Industry Building south parking lot, come in the west building entrance, and head up to room 413.

UAA parking is free on Fridays.

Zoom will be available for those unable to join us on campus. 

A complimentary light lunch will be provided, so advance registration is required. IEEE membership is NOT required to register.

STAK Energy Project Aaka - North Slope Power Campus Development

STAK was founded on a simple observation: Alaska's North Slope holds the largest stranded natural gas reserves in North America. That energy resource has been sitting underutilized for over 50 years. And today, while the nation and the state face a growing shortage of energy infrastructure, we are endeavoring to put Alaska’s resources to work.

STAK is developing Project Aaka, a multi-gigawatt, off-grid natural gas fired power plant on
Alaska's North Slope. We are building critical energy infrastructure, built in Alaska, using Alaska's resources. The power we produce can serve myriad applications, from mining and military needs to industrial development and advanced computing.

Biography:

Ginger Kane brings more than 15 years of experience leading projects in Alaska's oil and gas industry, with a proven ability to transform large-scale ideas into fully planned, executable projects. She began her career as a structural engineer and advanced into project leadership roles spanning full lifecycle execution, from appraisal and concept development through detailed design and implementation. 

 

With prior leadership experience at BP and other North Slope operators, she is recognized for building alignment across stakeholders, translating strategic objectives into executable plans, and delivering projects that balance safety, performance, and long-term value. Born and raised in Alaska, she has spent her career advancing projects that move the state forward.

 

Ginger holds a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia, holds a Master's Certificate in Project Management from the George Washington University, and is a Project Management Professional. She enjoys running and hiking in the Chugach and is raising her two children to share this love of the outdoors.
