Abstract 

In this talk, Chris will discuss how to critically think about optics technology using modulation and optical computing as examples.

Biography:

Chris is advising Applied Materials, Coherent, Eridu, Hyperlight, Lucidean, and Quintessent on optics product development. Before, he was VP, Advanced Development, Finisar where he defined and led the development and standardization of 10 through 400 Gb/s optical datacom interfaces. Prior, at Hughes Aircraft (now Boeing), and Lincoln Laboratory he worked on communication and imaging satellites. At Acuson (now Siemens), he was co-architect and senior R&D manager of the first coherent ultrasound imager. Chris received B.S. in Aeronautics and Astronautics, and B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from MIT. He is an IEEE and Optica (formerly OSA) Fellow.
