Tecnología Sin Barreras 3D (Fase 2 - Volunteer Braille Training and Capacity Building)
The second phase of Tecnología Sin Barreras 3D, titled Volunteer Training and Capacity Building, focuses on equipping volunteers with the foundational knowledge required to develop accessible educational materials for people with visual impairments. This stage will be conducted in collaboration with ANVI and delivered on-site at their facilities by a volunteer specialized in Braille education. The training will follow a theoretical and practical approach designed to introduce participants to Braille literacy and its application in the design of tactile and inclusive learning resources.
The module will consist of five weekly sessions, covering the history and importance of Braille in inclusive education, the progressive learning of the Braille alphabet, special characters and symbols, and the Braille numerical system. Throughout the training, volunteers will participate in reading, writing, identification, and transcription exercises aimed at developing a practical understanding of Braille. By the end of this phase, participants will possess the necessary skills to integrate Braille into 3D printed educational materials and contribute effectively to the development of accessible learning resources for ANVI beneficiaries.

Braille Literacy and Accessibility Training Program
This training program aims to provide IEEE volunteers with the fundamental knowledge of Braille literacy and inclusive education required for the development of accessible educational materials. Through a combination of theoretical concepts and practical activities, participants will acquire the skills necessary to understand, read, write, and integrate Braille into 3D printed learning resources for people with visual impairments. The program is delivered by Lic. Carlos Játiva from ANVI as part of the volunteer capacity-building activities of Tecnología Sin Barreras 3D.
Biography:
Lic. Carlos Játiva is a graduate of the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador and has served as a volunteer instructor at ANVI for the past three years. Throughout his work, he has contributed to the education and support of individuals with visual impairments, particularly in the teaching and application of the Braille system and inclusive educational practices.
