Join the Southeast Michigan Young Professionals Affinity Group for an in-person speaker event on the topic of the Current State of the Art in Computer Aided Engineering for Simulation, presented by section chair Sharan Kalwani!
Topic Abstract: Computer Aided Engineering has made strides in the last several decades. In this talk, we will trace its development, describe several terminology and applications. Key to this progress are the improvements made in high-performance computing. We will finally lead into the current state of the art in this field—computational mechanics, electrical and electronic design automation, fluid dynamics, and speculate on what role AI and quantum computing will play in the future, etc.
The event will be hosted at Oakland University, and a pizza dinner will be provided. We hope you can join us!

CAE Simulation: Current State of the Art
Computer Aided Engineering has made strides in the last several decades. In this talk, we will trace its development, describe several terminology and applications. Key to this progress are the improvements made in high-performance computing. We will finally lead into the current state of the art in this field—computational mechanics, electrical and electronic design automation, fluid dynamics, and speculate on what role AI and quantum computing will play in the future, etc.
Biography:
Sharan Kalwani is a co-founder, trainer, trainer of trainers, and professor in the areas including high-performance computing, computer-aided simulation, artificial intelligence and machine learning, Big Data, infrastructure quality (including data centers for artificial intelligence), networking and interconnects.
He has provided his expertise in high-performance computing in such organizations including Cray Research Inc, SGI, Intel, General Motors, Fermilab (the particle-physics accelerator facility in Metro Chicago that has made equipment used in CERN's Large Hadron Collider), as well as multiple universities around the world.
This is of course in addition to his role as Chair of the IEEE Southeastern Michigan Section, Metropolitan Detroit, Michigan, United States of America.
