IEEE IES–AESS Rwanda Industrial Visit to Zipline
IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) Rwanda Chapter, in collaboration with IEEE AESS Rwanda, is organizing an industrial visit to the Zipline Muhanga Distribution Center in Muhanga District for a maximum of 30 participants.
The group will depart from Kigali at 9:00 AM. The onsite programme at Zipline will run from 10:30 AM to 11:35 AM, followed by the return journey to Kigali, with estimated arrival at 1:00 PM.
This visit will give IEEE members and students a behind-the-scenes look at how autonomous aircraft, robotics, embedded systems, communications, data, and logistics are integrated to deliver essential medical products efficiently and reliably across Rwanda.
Participants will learn about Zipline’s end-to-end delivery workflow, including order fulfilment, aircraft preparation, flight operations, safety procedures, fleet monitoring, recovery systems, and the engineering challenges involved in operating a large-scale autonomous delivery network. The visit will also highlight career pathways in aerospace, industrial electronics, automation, software, operations, and technology-driven healthcare.
The session is designed to connect students and young professionals with real-world engineering practice while strengthening collaboration between IEEE IES Rwanda, IEEE AESS Rwanda, academia, and industry.
