Summer of Projects (SOP) 2026 is a four-weekend robotics workshop-cum-competition organized by the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) Student Chapter in collaboration with IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS), BMS Institute of Technology & Management. The event is designed to provide undergraduate students with hands-on experience in robotics, embedded systems, wireless communication, computer vision, and autonomous systems through a structured, project-based learning approach.

Throughout the program, participants will progressively design and develop four robotics projects:

  • Camera-Based Line Follower Robot

  • FPV Bluetooth-Controlled Robo Soccer Bot

  • Computer Vision Human Tracking Bot

  • Autonomous QR-Based Maze Solver

Each workshop session will conclude with an implementation-based competition, enabling participants to apply their learning in a competitive environment while enhancing their technical proficiency, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. The series will culminate in a grand showcase and prize distribution recognizing outstanding performances.

Weekend 2: Wireless Communication & Control

  • Technical Session: Exploring wireless communication protocols and remote control mechanics.

  • Guided Implementation: Building the FPV Bluetooth-Controlled Robo Soccer Bot.

  • Application Challenge: Robo Soccer match and maneuverability tournament.

Weekend 3: Introduction to Computer Vision

  • Technical Session: Basics of computer vision, image processing, and object detection.

  • Guided Implementation: Developing the Computer Vision Human Tracking Bot.

  • Application Challenge: Human tracking accuracy and dynamic response competition.

Weekend 4: Autonomous Systems & Grand Finale

  • Technical Session: Advanced autonomous decision-making and QR code processing.

  • Guided Implementation: Finalizing the Autonomous QR-Based Maze Solver.

  • Application Challenge: Autonomous maze-solving time trials.

  • Closing Ceremony: Grand showcase, project exhibition, and prize distribution for outstanding performances.
