The 8th International Conference on Energy, Power and Grid (ICEPG 2026) will be grandly held in Guangzhou, China, from 18 September to 20 September 2026. The conference is hosted by the IEEE PES Guangzhou Chapter. Under the theme Low-carbon, Digital and Intelligent New Power System, the event will attract leading scholars, industry leaders, and experts from around the world for high-level, forward-looking exchanges and in-depth discussions.

The conference closely addresses emerging trends brought by the global energy transition and explores how frontier technologies of renewable energy, energy storage and smart grids can realize systematic integration and large-scale engineering application, aiming to bridge the gap between theoretical research and industrial deployment. It covers three major technical tracks: Energy and Power, Grid System, and Smart Grid System, spanning renewable energy, multi-type energy storage, hydrogen energy, power transmission technology, intelligent power system operation and control, power digital transformation, artificial intelligence applications, microgrid operation, virtual power plants, power grid digital twin technology and other frontier research areas. The discussions focus on advancing power systems toward greater intelligence, resilience, flexibility and low-carbon operation.

Hosting the conference in Guangzhou highlights the vibrancy and attractiveness of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in energy technology innovation. The event will provide new intellectual momentum for the low-carbon transformation of power and energy systems in China and globally. The intensive interaction between academia and industry is expected to generate innovative ideas and accelerate the development of a safe, efficient, and green future energy system.

Jizhong Zhu of South China University of Technology

Biography:

Jizhong Zhu is a professor at the South China University of Technology (Foreign Academician of Academy of Sciences of Bologna Institute, IEEE Fellow, IET Fellow, CSEE Fellow) and a National Distinguished Expert. He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from the School of Electrical Engineering, Chongqing University in February 1985, 1987, and 1990, respectively. He is currently the director and professor of the ISESOOC Center of the South China University of Technology, serving as a high-level talent introduced by China. Since 2018, he has acted as the Chairman of the IEEE P2781 and P2783 international standards working groups, a Member of the IEEE SMC Smart Power and Energy Systems Technical Committee, and a Member of the IEEE SMC Standards Committee; he held the Chair of IEEE PES SBLC Loads Sub-Committee, served as Senior Principal Power Systems Engineer at Alstom Grid from 2000-2015, and became an academician-level expert of the Alstom Global Expert Committee in 2013.

Mo-Yuen Chow of Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Biography:

Mo-Yuen Chow earned his degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.S., 1982); and Cornell University (M. Eng., 1983; Ph.D., 1987). Dr. Chow joined as a Professor at UM-Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute in 2022. He was a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at North Carolina State University. Dr. Chow's recent research focuses on distributed control and management, smart micro-grids, batteries management, and mechatronics systems. Dr. Chow has established the Advanced Diagnosis, Automation, and Control Laboratory. He is an IEEE Fellow, the Co-Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Trans. on Industrial Informatics 2014-2018, Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics 2010-2012. He has received the IEEE Region-3 Joseph M. Biedenbach Outstanding Engineering Educator Award, the IEEE ENCS Outstanding Engineering Educator Award, the IEEE ENCS Service Award, the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Anthony J Hornfeck Service Award, and the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Dr.-Ing. Eugene Mittelmann Achievement Award. He is a Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society.

Xiaoming Kang of University of South China

Biography:

Dr. Kang achieved his bachelor and Ph.D degree in Material Sciecne and Engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University in 2011 and 2017, respectively. After graduation, he further served as a postdoc and research fellow in Prof. Luo Jingllis group (Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering) to fufil my job in the research of next generation energy conversion and storage devices, with an emphasis on exploring the oxygen evolution/reduction reaction and electrochemical carbon dioxide conversion at room temperatures. In 2022, he worked as an associated professor in School of Mechanical Engineering, University of South China. Till now, he hosted a National Natural Science Foundation of China, Shenzhen Postdoctoral innovative research programme, respectively. As a core-participant, he is a member in Shenzhen Innovative Research Team Program: Hydrogen energy and fuel cell electrocatalytic materials and Innovative project of Shenzhen graphene manufacturing innovation center: Development of graphene-based materials for anti-corrosion and antifouling of marine equipment and facilities, respectively. Besides, he once hosted a China Postdoctoral Science Foundation in 2019. Till now, he has published over 30 papers and 5 patents in Nature Communications, Chemical Communication, Polymer Chemistry, Journal of Material Chemistry A, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, Chinese Chemical Letters and etc.
