Developing and developed countries alike face significant challenges in responding to the increasing frequency and severity of natural and climate-related disasters, which disproportionately affect the most vulnerable members of society. The increasing scale and urgency of these threats call for innovative, affordable, and scalable technological solutions to improve disaster preparedness, strengthen resilience, and enable more effective mitigation, response, and recovery.

Workshop Goals

Building on the success of the event held in collaboration with Osaka University under the umbrella of the Osaka 2025 WorldExpo, the IEEE SusTech Inter-Society Engagement and Collaboration Committee (IEC), IEEE NPSS, UnitedPeopleGlobal, CERN IdeaSquare, and partner organisations, are convening in Geneva to identify critical technological, organisational, and societal gaps where sustainable technologies can deliver meaningful impact.

The workshop will bring together representatives from IEEE Societies and Councils, Academia, Industry, Governmental Agencies, NGOs, and International Organisations to discuss technical emerging solutions, establish new collaborations, and accelerate progress in addressing some of the world's most pressing challenges. The focus will be on developing practical, affordable, inclusive, and sustainable approaches that enhance clean energy access, climate resilience, disaster modelling and mitigation, and community preparedness.
