Webinar on IEEE Beyond Membership: Unlocking Research, Innovation, Funding, Awards, and Leadership Opportunities
The IEEE JSTU Student Branch, in collaboration with the JSTU Robotics Club, IEEE PUST Student Branch, and IEEE PUST AP-S Student Branch Chapter, successfully organized an insightful webinar titled "IEEE Beyond Membership: Unlocking Research, Innovation, Funding, Awards, and Leadership Opportunities."
The webinar featured Mr. Liton Chandra Paul, Senior Member, IEEE; Member, IEEE Region 3 Young Professionals Engagement & Communication Team, USA; Ph.D. Student at The University of Alabama, USA; and Assistant Professor, Department of EECE, Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST), Bangladesh, as the keynote speaker.
During the session, participants explored how IEEE membership can serve as a gateway to global opportunities in research, innovation, funding, awards, leadership, networking, and professional development. The speaker shared practical insights into leveraging IEEE resources, engaging in technical societies, applying for grants and awards, volunteering in leadership roles, and building an international professional network.
The webinar concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where participants actively engaged with the speaker by discussing research pathways, IEEE volunteer opportunities, career development, and strategies for maximizing the benefits of IEEE membership.
The event received enthusiastic participation from students, researchers, and young professionals, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing technical excellence and fostering professional growth through IEEE.

Liton Chandra Paul is a Senior Member of IEEE, a Ph.D. student in Electrical Engineering at The University of Alabama, USA, and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Communication Engineering (EECE) at Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST), Bangladesh. He is an active IEEE volunteer, currently serving as a Member of the IEEE Region 3 Young Professionals Engagement & Communication Team (USA) and Secretary of The University of Alabama IEEE Student Branch. His research achievements, international leadership, and extensive contributions to IEEE make him a distinguished speaker on leveraging IEEE for research, innovation, funding, awards, leadership, and professional development.
Biography:
Liton Chandra Paul is a Senior Member of IEEE, currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at The University of Alabama, USA, while serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Communication Engineering (EECE) at Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST), Bangladesh.
He graduated First Class First from Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) and was awarded the University Gold Medal for his outstanding academic performance. His research contributions have been recognized through several prestigious honors, including the Prof. Syed Mahbubur Rahman Best Paper Award (IEEE ICCIT 2021), Research Excellence Award 2022, and Outstanding Researcher Award 2023. He has also secured multiple competitive research grants and published extensively in internationally recognized journals and conferences.
An accomplished IEEE volunteer, Mr. Paul has held numerous leadership positions within IEEE. He currently serves as Secretary of The University of Alabama IEEE Student Branch, Student Activity Coordinator of the IEEE AP-S/MTT-S Bangladesh Joint Chapter, and a Member of the IEEE Region 3 Young Professionals Engagement & Communication Team (USA). He has also contributed as an IEEE Day Ambassador, IEEE YESIST12 Ambassador, and GAIN Ambassador.
In addition to his academic and professional responsibilities, he serves as an Academic Editor for an international Wiley journal and reviews manuscripts for leading publishers, including IEEE, Springer Nature, Elsevier, Wiley, Cambridge University Press, IET, MDPI, and Taylor & Francis. His research interests include antennas and RF circuits, laser technologies, and quantum physics.
