Artificial Intelligence Approaches for Integrating CCAM in Urban Traffic
IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Student Branch Chapter (SBC16391F), in association with the IEEE RGM Student Branch and IEEE Hyderabad Section, is organizing a featured workshop titled “Artificial Intelligence Approaches for Integrating CCAM in the Urban Traffic.”
The session will focus on the role of Artificial Intelligence in Cooperative, Connected and Automated Mobility (CCAM) and its applications in modern urban transportation. The workshop will cover AI-driven approaches for developing smart transportation infrastructure, connected systems, automated vehicles, and intelligent traffic management solutions aimed at improving efficiency, reducing congestion, and enabling safer and more sustainable mobility.
The workshop will be delivered by Prof. Maria Pia Fanti, Full Professor of System and Control Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Bari, Italy. With extensive research contributions in control systems, transportation, logistics, manufacturing systems, and intelligent mobility, Prof. Fanti will share insights into real-world CCAM applications, simulation environments, and field implementations.

Technical Session
The session focused on Artificial Intelligence Approaches for Integrating Cooperative, Connected and Automated Mobility (CCAM) in Urban Traffic. Biography:
Prof. Maria Pia Fanti is a Full Professor of System and Control Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Bari, Italy, and serves as the Chair of the Laboratory of Automation and Control. She received her Laurea degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 1983.
Her research interests include complex systems, transportation and logistics systems, manufacturing systems, discrete event systems, Petri nets, consensus protocols, and fault detection. She has published more than 360 research papers and two textbooks in her areas of expertise.
Prof. Fanti is actively involved in the IEEE community and has served in several editorial and leadership positions, including Senior Editor and Associate Editor for IEEE journals. She has also contributed to the organization of several major international IEEE conferences and technical activities.
She has received several recognitions from the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society, including the 2020 IEEE SMC Outstanding Contribution Award.
With her extensive academic, research, and professional experience in automation, control systems, transportation, and intelligent mobility, Prof. Maria Pia Fanti brings valuable expertise to the workshop on “Artificial Intelligence Approaches for Integrating Cooperative, Connected and Automated Mobility in the Urban Traffic.”
