Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping healthcare, with applications ranging from clinical documentation and decision support to population health management and predictive analytics. As AI capabilities continue to advance, clinicians are increasingly challenged to navigate both the opportunities and responsibilities that accompany these technologies, ensuring their thoughtful, ethical, and evidence-based integration into clinical practice and patient care.
The objective of this talk is to explore the evolving role of AI in healthcare, focusing on real-world applications within healthcare systems and electronic health records. Drawing from experiences in clinical practice, the discussion will also address the challenges that influence real-world utility—including hallucinations, bias, transparency, privacy, reliability, and clinician trust—and consider the importance of thoughtful implementation, clinical oversight, and a patient-centered approach as AI becomes increasingly integrated into clinical practice.
