The event is the GRSS Students and Young Professionals (SYP) Summit 2026, which will take place on 14–15 November 2026 in Naples, Italy. The Summit is organized by the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) and is primarily targeted at students, PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and young professionals working in Earth Observation, Remote Sensing, and related fields.
 
The main goals of the event are:
- fostering networking among young researchers and professionals;
- discussing career opportunities in academia, industry, and international organizations;
- promoting leadership and volunteer engagement within GRSS and IEEE;
- exposing participants to emerging trends and future challenges in Earth Observation.
 
We would ideally like to involve an ESA representative in a panel discussion and/or a fireside chat with students and young professionals focused on:
- the future of Earth Observation;
- career opportunities within the EO ecosystem;
- the role of young professionals in shaping future EO missions and applications;
- the skills and competencies that the next generation should develop.
 
The idea is to create an interactive session rather than a purely technical presentation, allowing students and young professionals to engage directly with ESA and ask questions about both technology and career development.
