On the occasion of IEEE Ethics Week 2026, the IEEE Iraq Section Educational Activities Committee is organizing an online interactive seminar entitled “Engineering Ethics in the Age of AI: From Principles to Professional Decisions.”

Presented by Dr. Wael R. Abdulmajeed, Chair of the Educational Activities Committee, IEEE Iraq Section, the seminar will explore how professional engineering ethics can guide the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence in engineering, research, education, and professional practice.

The session will address professional responsibility, public welfare, accuracy and accountability, privacy and confidentiality, transparency, bias, research integrity, and responsible AI-assisted decision-making.

The seminar will also include interactive participation from attendees, allowing them to share their views, discuss ethical challenges, respond to practical scenarios, and contribute their experiences during the discussion and Q&A session.

Registered participants who attend the seminar will receive a Certificate of Participation issued by IEEE Iraq Section.

Wael Abdulmajeed of University of Baghdad

Biography:

Dr. Wael R. Abdulmajeed is an active IEEE volunteer with leadership responsibilities in education, entrepreneurship, mentoring, professional development, and member engagement. He currently serves as Chair of the Educational Activities Committee, IEEE Iraq Section, and Treasurer of IEEE Iraq Section.

He also contributes to a number of IEEE programs and initiatives, including IEEE Smart Cities, IEEE Region 8 Entrepreneurship, IEEE PES Young Professionals mentoring, IEEEXtreme, and IEEE ambassador and mentoring activities. His IEEE engagement focuses on strengthening engineering education, professional ethics, responsible use of emerging technologies, student and young professional development, and expanding meaningful IEEE activities in Iraq.

Through his IEEE roles, Dr. Abdulmajeed supports seminars, mentoring, competitions, educational programs, professional networking, and initiatives that promote ethical, innovative, and socially responsible engineering practice.
