Distributed Intelligence at the Edge: From Service Delivery to Emergency Communications
This seminar explores how distributed intelligence can support resource management in dynamic edge-network environments. It presents various optimization approaches through three recent research studies. The studies address adaptive video streaming, computation offloading in blockchain-enabled edge networks, and UAV-assisted emergency communications. The seminar concludes with key lessons and future directions for intelligent and distributed edge systems.

Arash Bozorgchenani of University of Leeds, UK
Biography:
Arash Bozorgchenani received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in IT and Computer Networks in 2013 and 2016, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Telecommunications from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 2020. He then held postdoctoral positions at the University of Bologna and Lancaster University, U.K., from 2019 to 2023, and was a Visiting Researcher at the University of Manitoba, Canada, in 2019. He has been with the University of Leeds, U.K., as an Assistant Professor since 2023. He has been involved in both national Gaucho (PRIN 2015, Italy) and European (H2020 SANCUS) projects. He has served in multiple roles at IEEE flagship conferences, including tutorial speaker, TPC member, and session chair. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). His research interests include B5G/6G communication systems, edge-cloud computing, distributed intelligence and network resource optimization.
