This presentation provides a practitioner’s perspective on power system operations and the role of operations engineering in maintaining the reliability of the bulk electric power system.

Speaker: Daniel Tiang, Manager of Operations Planning at the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), will introduce the role of CAISO and discuss how transmission operations engineers plan for near-real-time system conditions, coordinate transmission outages, support real-time system operators, and perform studies to identify and mitigate reliability concerns.
