Build Your First NEURAL NETWORK
An ice-breaker introduction to the basics. A live coding hour for engineers and tech-adjacent people. Friendly overview. Real PyTorch. A notebook you can keep building on.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
- How a neural network is put together, step by step, in PyTorch.
- How the code is structured and what it does.
- How to use Jupyter Notebooks in Google Colab — no local install.

You will get a technical toehold in a foundational AI technology so you can stop feeling left behind by the AI revolution.
About your Presenter: Scott Evans
After my BSEE, I did things in reverse.
I started with a 26-year career in technical marketing, engineering sales management, entrepreneurship, business, and finance. This included starting 5 businesses. After that, I re-tooled and re-studied math and engineering, and then became a working electrical engineer. I own two companies, one of which is technology related.
Includes the 2026 IEEE AI Symposium
The 2026 AI Symposium immediately follows this workshop at the Forge Event Center adjacent to the Grimm Brothers Brewhouse, which is also on the Forge Campus.
