AI is everywhere now and affects our life, work, learning – but what is it? AI stands for Artificial Intelligence. Is it a computer program? 

Can a computer program or a mechanical device solve problems, create new ideas, new concepts, other “things”? Let’s dive into this more deeply. How does AI work? 

Starting from this simplest launch point, we will delve into more details on AI, explore future possibilities, and look at examples.

Biography:

Dr. George Gela is a Life Senior Member of IEEE, served 21 years as Chair of IEC Technical Committee (TC) 78, and now serves as Technical Advisor (TA) for USNC TAGs on two IEC TCs. He is active in ANSI, ASTM, ICOLiM and other technical organizations. George graduated from the University of Toronto, taught high voltage, power electronics and other courses at The Ohio State University, Western New England University and RPI.  He spent 24 years at the EPRI High Voltage Center (previously the world-renown outdoor GE research lab) in Lenox, MA. He is now retired and provides consulting services in high voltage and live working. He has traveled to many countries world-wide to lecture, conduct research and provide training in the areas of high voltage, corona, safety, and other subjects.
