The Evolution of Propulsion Controls: From Fundamentals to Intelligent Systems
IEEE SEM VTS Technical Event: The Evolution of Propulsion Controls: From Fundamentals to Intelligent Systems.
Abstract:
Propulsion systems rely on sophisticated control technologies to deliver performance, efficiency, safety, and reliability. This presentation explores the evolution of propulsion controls, from fundamental control principles and model-based methods to today’s optimization and AI-enabled approaches. Through examples from propulsion, energy, and battery systems, the talk highlights the role of advanced controls in energy management, battery management, health monitoring, fast charging, and intelligent decision-making. It also provides insight into how control technologies are expanding vehicle capabilities while addressing the increasing complexity of modern propulsion systems.
