The electrical power grid is frequently in the news lately. We are hearing about increasing power demand (and data centers), new sources like renewables, and concerns of shortages or outages. In this talk, Brian Zook will provide a short framework that he finds useful in understanding new technologies and their potential impact on the power grid. He will touch on a few of the hot topics, illustrating ways of considering their implications as we all wrestle with the questions. This will include incorporating observations he made at the IEEE PES T&D conference in early May in Chicago, where these topics were discussed extensively.

IEEE members need to pay $20.00, to offset the cost of the lunch, which covers about 80% of the actual cost.  Guests are $25.00 and Students are $5.00.  Please bring cash or a check as we cannot process credit cards at this time.  La Fonda’s lunch items are offered via a menu of three choices plus tea or water.  We appreciate your consideration and we look forward to seeing there.
