A digital doomsday is approaching! Future quantum computers will instantly shatter the encryption protecting all global finance, military secrets, and personal privacy. Switching to Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), that is not vulnerable to quantum computer attacks, is our only shield to stop an absolute, irreversible collapse of trust in the digital world. This talk will be an insight into the hardware implementation aspects of the PQC, since these algorithms are generally bulkier both in computational complexity, memory and bandwidth requirements compared to what the world is using today. In addition to her professional insights, the speaker will offer a personal look at her life. She’ll discuss the unique dynamics of women's career progression and share strategies for balancing family, children, and a thriving career. The talk will be kept semi technical, the technical aspects do not require any prior training into post quantum cryptography.

Biography:

Dr. Ayesha Khalid is a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT) at Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) in the UK. She won the DAAD scholarship award for her doctoral studies from RWTH Aachen University, Germany, where she was awarded her PhD with Magna Cum Laude (with great honour) in applied cryptography. Her research interest lies in area-efficient, side channel secure, custom hardware implementations of Post quantum cryptography. She is a senior member of IEEE, associate editor of IEEE TETC and member of the IEEE Technical Committee on VLSI Systems and Applications (VSA).
