Preparing the Next Generation of GIS Professionals: Skills Development in GeoAI, Drone/UAV Technologies and Integrated GIS Solutions
The Faculty of Arts, University of Jaffna, has organized a technical workshop titled “Preparing the Next Generation of GIS Professionals: Skills Development in GeoAI, Drone/UAV Technologies and Integrated GIS Solutions” as part of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) Young Professionals (YP) Ambassador Program 2026. The workshop will be led by Mr. Supun Siriwardane, GM/CEO, GIS Solutions.
This technical session will introduce participants to emerging applications of GeoAI, Drone/UAV technologies, and integrated GIS solutions. The programme will combine theoretical knowledge with practical learning to demonstrate how modern geospatial technologies can support spatial analysis, mapping, data collection, and decision-making. The event aims to strengthen participants’ awareness of current geospatial technology trends and develop practical skills relevant to further academic study and professional careers in GIS and related fields.
