MEMS, Nanotechnology & Their Aerospace Applications
Biography:
Dr. Sreelal S Pillai graduated with a Bachelor of Technology degree in Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from College of Engineering, University of Kerala, Trivandrum, India in 1990. He then completed the postgraduate program at Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, India and obtained the Master of Technology degree in Integrated Electronic Circuits and Systems from there. In 1991, he joined the Avionics entity of Indian Space Research Organization, Trivandrum, India where he was engaged in the design and development of advanced, miniaturized telemetry systems for aerospace applications. He was a Research Scholar at National University of Singapore from 1998 to 2001 where his work on the design and simulation of short dimension, sub-100 nm MOSFETs led to the award of Ph.D. degree in Microelectronics discipline in January 2004. Currently he is pursuing the design and development of advanced sensing and data acquisition systems and associated signal conditioning circuitry and application of state-of-the-art microelectronic devices for next generation avionics systems in ISRO. He has contributed significantly towards the realization and application of advanced telemetry subsystems in the launch vehicle missions of ISRO and holds the position of Outstanding Scientist in the organization. He has published extensively in national and international conferences, journals and books with about 50 conference and 15 journal papers and holds one US and six Indian patents. He is a senior member of IEEE, a life member of Electron Devices Society of IEEE, a member of the Distinguished Lecture Panel formed by IEEE India ouncil for the National Distinguished Lecture Program (NDLP), a member of IEEE global Virtual Speaker Bureau (VSB) and a Fellow of The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE). He is the founding chair of IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society (AESS) Kerala chapter and has been past chair of Circuits and System Society (CASS) Kerala chapter. He has been member of Technical Program Committee of several national and international conferences including International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS) , IEEE SPace, Aerospace and defenCE (SPACE) conference and reviewer for journals including IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems, IEEE Sensors Letters, IOP Journals of Physics Communications and Measurement Science and Technology. He is a guest faculty and doctoral committee member of many institutes and universities in India including IIST, IISc, CUSAT and Dr MGR University.
