Quantum Computing: From Foundations to Real-World Applications
Quantum computing is rapidly moving from a largely theoretical field toward practical experimentation and new approaches to solving difficult computational problems. But what exactly is a quantum computer? How does it differ from the computers we use today, what makes a quantum algorithm different from a classical algorithm, and where might quantum computing actually provide an advantage?
Join us for the talk offered by Krishna Ganesh, COO and Board Director of SuperQ Quantum, for an accessible introduction to quantum computing and the rapidly developing world of hybrid supercomputing. The talk will explore how quantum computers work, how the field has evolved in recent years, and how quantum and classical computing can be combined to tackle challenging problems in areas such as optimization, supply chains, materials science, and data modeling. The session will also examine the growing intersection between artificial intelligence and quantum computing, including how AI can make sophisticated computing tools more accessible to researchers, students, and organizations. The talk will include examples using ChatQLM.
No previous background in quantum computing is required. Whether you are interested in computer science, mathematics, optimization, AI, engineering, business, or simply curious about what quantum computing may mean for the future of computing, this talk will provide a practical introduction to the field and its current capabilities.
The event is co-organized by Computer Chapter and the School of Computing Sciences and Mathematics, and is sponsored by SuperQ Quantum. Everyone is welcome to attend.
After the talk, everyone is welcome to stay for refreshments and networking, and to win a door prize!
