IEEE DeKUT Frontier Ideathon 2026
The IEEE DeKUT Frontier Ideathon 2026 is a hybrid innovation challenge that empowers university students to turn ideas into technology-driven solutions to pressing social, environmental, and health challenges in Kenya and across Africa.
Moving beyond theoretical concepts, this competition guides student teams through a hands-on journey from problem identification and design thinking to building functional, real-world prototypes.
EVENT STRUCTURE & PHASES
Phase 1 — Design Thinking Workshop (Virtual): Preparatory session on feasibility & problem-solving.
Phase 2 — Online Idea Submission: Teams submit a 1-page idea brief detailing the problem, tech solution, impact & tools.
Phase 3 — Physical Pitch Day (Main Event): Top 9 finalist teams pitch working prototypes in front of expert judges & a live audience.
