RF electronics and antennas are becoming increasingly integrated, especially at mmWave frequencies, where conducted testing is often impossible or impractical. More and more tests therefore have to be performed over the air, which can’t all be met by anechoic chambers due to issues with speed and accuracy. In this talk, Anouk Hubrechsen (CEO Antennex) will introduce an alternative method for wireless testing based on reverberation chambers for both development and production. She will describe the basic operation of these chambers, including the techniques behind the more advanced methods that enable measurements such as noise figure, antenna efficiency, EVM + non-linear distortion, and others. The talk also links the technology to entrepreneurship and standardization efforts.

Reverberation Chambers

Biography:

Anouk Hubrechsen is CEO and co-founder of Antennex, which builds antenna-measurement systems and delivers the world's fastest power-based testing. She holds an MSc (2019) and a PhD (2023) from Eindhoven University of Technology, where her research on antenna measurements in reverberation chambers became the foundation of Antennex. In 2018 and 2019 she was a guest researcher at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Boulder, Colorado, working on reverberation-chamber standards for IoT testing. Her work has produced multiple patents and over 40 scientific publications. Anouk has grown Antennex from a university lab into an international team serving customers across Europe, the US, and Asia, and she sits on several standardization committees shaping how antennas are tested.
