Xtreme Shadows
About the Event
Xtreme Shadows is a six-hour online individual programming competition organized as a pre-event for IEEEXtreme 20.0. The event is designed to introduce participants to the competitive programming environment of IEEEXtreme through programming challenges, algorithmic thinking, and problem-solving activities.
Objectives

To provide students with an opportunity to practice programming and problem-solving.

To familiarize participants with the competitive programming experience ahead of IEEEXtreme 20.0.

To encourage logical thinking, algorithmic reasoning, and coding skills.

To promote participation in competitive programming among students from different academic backgrounds.
Event Format
The competition will be conducted individually over six hours on the HackerRank platform. Each participant must register separately. IEEE membership is not required to participate in this pre-event.

Registration and Participation
Registration through the designated form is compulsory for all participants. The registration deadline is 13 October 2026 at 11:59 PM Nepal Time (NPT). Participants must provide accurate information, as the competition link and further instructions will be sent to their registered email addresses before the event. Participants are advised to check their inboxes regularly.
Awards and Recognition
Awards for top three IEEE members and IEEEXtreme participants will be announced and presented during IEEEXtreme. Six top-ranking non-IEEE members will receive sponsored IEEE memberships immediately after the pre-event. Awards are applicable only to individuals in Nepal.
Expected Outcomes
The event aims to strengthen participants' programming and problem-solving abilities, provide practical exposure to competitive programming, and encourage greater participation in IEEEXtreme 20.0.
