India’s Space Story: From a Fishing Village to the Moon
The IEEE Communication Society (ComSoc) Student Branch Chapter of Vignan’s Foundation for Science, Technology and Research (VFSTR) organized a school outreach activity titled “India’s Space Story: From a Fishing Village to the Moon.” The programme aimed to create awareness among school students about India’s achievements in space science and technology.
The session highlighted the journey of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), from its early beginnings at Thumba, a coastal village in Kerala, to landmark missions such as Chandrayaan and India’s achievements in lunar exploration. Students gained insights into space technology, satellite applications, launch vehicles, and the importance of scientific research and innovation.
The activity encouraged students to develop an interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), inspiring them to explore future opportunities in space science and engineering.
