The lecture will have two parts — the first part will address
fundamentals of Space-Time Block Coding (STBC), the second
part will be dedicated to advanced technique including
cooperative and distributed algorithms.
Part I: Introduction to STBC
Diversity as a powerful counter-fading strategy;
Receiver diversity (Selective diversity, maximum
ratio combining, and equal gain combining);
Transmit diversity (delay diversity, the Alamouti
Scheme, and general space time block coding –
orthogonal schemes and non-orthogonal schemes).
Part II: Some issues and solutions in STBC systems
Diversity and multiplexing trade-off;
STBC schemes for 2x2 systems;
STBC over time-selective channels;
SFBC for OFDM;
Cooperative diversity;
Distributed STBC and the related research issues.
